Winter Spirit Week

Senior Panoramic Pictures can be ordered until 12/21. Turn in order form and money to Mrs. Laina in the Activities Office. Order Forms are also available in the office. Senior Panoramic Order Form

Jostens will be here at lunch and after school on 12/18 & 12/19 to take orders and answer questions regarding Caps, Gowns, and Graduation Announcements, as well as anything else Jostens related. Make sure to order by the 12/19.

Newbury Park High School Parents,

I hope this email finds you and your loved ones safe, and I hope you have a great Thanksgiving as well. As we return to school next week, I wanted to send you an update regarding the updated schedule for next week and how Newbury High School and the school district are committed to providing the support and assistance necessary for all NP students during these tough times. As mentioned by our superintendent, the school district has applied for a waiver from the state, which would prevent us from having to extend the school year. The school district is confident we will receive that waiver. Finally, I want to assure all parents and students that all teachers and staff members understand that trying to add extra work and assignments to “catch up” will not be the course of action we will take. NPHS teachers will begin instruction where they left off, collaborate with department members to identify only the essential topics to cover and modify any upcoming assessments including final exams based only on covered material. We are also working with all departments to support students enrolled in higher-level courses such as International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement. Finally, all previously scheduled meetings postponed during the closure including any IEP, SST or 504, will be rescheduled at the earliest date possible.

Monday, November 26th

  • We have now made the first day back to school a collaboration/late start day.
  • We are on a B day schedule for the day.
  • The late start schedule will allow the NPHS staff to meet as an entire group, review the plans in place to support your child and prepare for the start of classes.

  • All we are doing is canceling the late start scheduled for Wednesday, November 28th and moving it to Monday, November 26.
  • School counselors will be available to senior students from 8:15 am to 9:50 am in the main office to assist with any college application questions they might have.
  • School counselors, district counselors and private practice counselors will be available all day in the college and career center to support any student who is need of counseling.
  • In order to allow students to get their physical education clothes out of their lockers, take their clothes home and wash their clothes, students will are not required to dress out for physical education on the first day back.
  • As I am sending this email out to you, there will also be an optional student led vigil to honor and remember the victims of the Borderline tragedy. This optional event will take place from 10:00 am to 10:20 am in the quad. If the date gets changed, we will send an update out
  • We have moved the Senior Panorama Picture and Graduation information presentation from Jostens to Wednesday, December 12, which is a late start day.

Tuesday, November 27th

  • We will be on regular A day bell schedule.
  • School Site Council is meeting at 3:00 pm in the Library Conference Room.
  • NPHS counselors will be hosting a college application meeting from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm in the library for all interested senior parents and students.

Wednesday, November 28

As you review the school calendar for the rest of the week, there are a few changes to banquets and other meetings. Please make sure that you are reviewing the calendar, communicating with any coaches or program directors to get an updated schedule of practices, meetings or events.

Over the past few weeks, our community has endured too much upheaval and tragedy, but in the face of the challenges that individually and as a community we encountered, we have become even stronger. We have supported those who needed a helping hand, we have provided a shoulder to lean on and we have banded together as a family. The Newbury Park High School community will always be part of a bigger purpose. That purpose is to be One Community! Good morning Panther families. My hope for everyone is that you, your family, friends and loved ones are safe as we help each other out in these difficult times. Our drama department has worked hard to put together a schedule to showcase the talents of our outstanding students. In addition, one of the shows will be a sing-along performance in which all proceeds from the event will go towards the relief efforts for people and families affected by the fires and the tragedy at Borderline.

Schedule for Little Shop of Horrors

Wednesday, November 28th – Opening Night – Show starts at 7:00 pm.

Thursday, November 29th – Show starts at 7:00 pm.

Friday, November 30th – Show starts at 7:00 pm.

Saturday, December 1st is not a show – Little Shop of Horrors sing-along. This event will be open to the community and all proceeds will go towards the relief efforts for victims of the fires and those affected by the tragedy at Boderline. We will announce the start time for this event, when school resumes.

Sunday, December 2nd – Closing Show – Matinee Show – Show begins at 2:00 pm.

   

Dear CVUSD Community:

The last several days have been extremely challenging ones for our community and I have been in awe of the resiliency, strength and togetherness shown through acts small and large. As we hope and pray for continued safety in the days ahead, at Conejo Valley Unified School District we are doing all we can to help guarantee safe and clean classrooms meet our students and employees when classes resume. As such, please read the following update regarding the current status of CVUSD schools, and the planned steps ahead:

Today we finished the final assessments of our schools and District offices.  Upon completion, we met with our Planning, Maintenance, and Custodial leadership, as well as with our insurance carrier and disaster restoration specialists. 

The status of our CVUSD schools is as follows: 

  • Five schools require intensive disaster restoration
  • Eleven schools requiring deep cleaning
  • Seven schools require exterior clean up
  • Five schools have to be surface cleaned
  • All of our schools require at least a horizontal cleaning, air scrubbing, deodorization, and replacement of air filters 

We are fortunate to not have sustained any structural damage, however our school restoration(s) will take up to 10 days. 

The safety and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority, and as such prior to the reopening of our schools, we will seek the opinion of an environmental hygienist. The results from those tests may take up to one week.  We expect to complete all restoration and testing within the next 10 days.  

Based on the aforementioned, all Conejo Valley Unified Schools will remain closed for the remainder of this week, and next week through the Thanksgiving break.  We expect all schools to reopen on Monday, November 26. 

All on-site activities including outside permit use is cancelled until further notice.  Our sports and activities that are held away from our schools will be evaluated based upon the safest accessible route and the air quality at the destination.  Changes to scheduled student events and activities will be communicated by each respective school. 

District offices are currently being cleaned and will be ready for re-occupancy Tuesday November 13 at 8:00 a.m.  Our leadership team will be coordinating our re-entry efforts, reviewing our instructional goals to make adjustments, and working to ensure District operations return to normal as soon as possible.    

Thank you, and please know that we do not take the decision to close our schools for such an extended time lightly. This decision was made after conferring with experts, and evaluating how we can ensure our school campuses are at the highest quality, and safety levels prior to our students returning to learn.

Los últimos días han sido extremadamente difíciles para nuestra comunidad y me ha sorprendido la resistencia, la fuerza y ​​la unión mostradas a través de actos pequeños y grandes. * Cinco escuelas requieren restauración intensiva de desastres 
* Once escuelas que requieren limpieza profunda 
* Siete escuelas requieren limpieza exterior 
* Cinco escuelas deben ser limpiadas superficialmente 

Todas nuestras escuelas requieren al menos una limpieza horizontal, lavado con aire, desodorización y reemplazo de filtros de aire Somos afortunados de no haber sufrido ningún daño estructural, sin embargo, la restauración de nuestra escuela tomará hasta 10 días.

La seguridad y el bienestar de nuestros estudiantes y personal es nuestra principal prioridad y, como tal, antes de la reapertura de nuestras escuelas, buscaremos la opinión de un higienista ambiental.
